Out-of-Town Interviews

Earlier in this blog, we referenced why Kansas City has become an increasingly attractive place to relocate to.  But how do you get a coveted position in a competitive marketplace?  U.S. News Money hands out several tips on nailing an out-of-town interview.

But before you’re flown in for the out-of-town interview, it’s critical for candidates to treat the first step, which will most likely be a phone or Skype interview, like a real interview.  We’ve put together a broader list on handling this initial stage of the out-of-town interview process:

  • Prepare early.
  • Research the company.
  • Dress for the interview.
  • Print off a copy of your resume to reference.
  • Express a desire to get the job.

Do you have others? We’d love to hear examples of personal experiences.
